Anup Jacob is a co-Founder and Managing Director of Activate Capital and has been investing for over 20 years across energy, water and other industrial technologies. Anup has served on multiple private and public company boards and regularly takes active roles chairing the audit and/or compensation committees. He currently serves on the Board for three Activate portfolio companies: Stem, Boosted and Volta.
As a founder and partner at several private equity firms prior to Activate – including Masdar & Mubadala Capital, Virgin Green Fund and Aqua-TPG – Anup empathizes with the challenges founders confront while taking a unique idea, raising capital, building a team and executing.
Anup also serves on the board of Grid Alternatives, a non-profit which aims to bring renewable energy to low income homeowners. He has served as a national judge for the E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Awards, the Financial Times/Just Means Social Innovations Awards, Zayed Future Energy Prize, the MIT Clean Energy Prize; and presented the keynot at several conferences including the Norwegian Goverment Enova Initiative, California’s BlueTech Valley, and addressed MBA students at both Yale & MIT.
Anup graduated with Honors in Economics from the University of Chicago.
